Counselling Services

counselling services

I offer counselling services to anyone who needs help with psychological issues.  I provide a safe and comfortable environment where you can safely explore and resolve those issues that concern you.  I give you time, time to talk about things that you might not feel able to talk about with the other people in your life.

I work in a person-centred and integrative way, tailoring sessions to suit each individual client and using various techniques to help you achieve a better understanding of yourself, thus enabling you to find better ways to cope, or to bring about changes in the way you think and behave that will improve your mental and emotional well-being.*

The person-centred, or client-centred, way of working is a humanistic approach that deals with the ways in which individuals perceive themselves consciously, rather than how I interpret their unconscious thoughts or ideas.  This approach was developed in the 1950s by American psychologist, Carl Rogers, and it sees human beings as having an innate tendency to develop towards their full potential. However, this ability can become blocked or distorted by our life experiences – particularly those that affect our sense of value.

I can help with the following areas:

  • Addiction;
  • affairs and betrayals;
  • anger management;
  • anxiety;
  • bereavement;
  • body dysmorphic disorder;
  • bullying;
  • cancer;
  • carer support;
  • chronic pain;
  • depression;
  • generalised anxiety disorder;
  • hoarding;
  • low self-confidence;
  • low self-esteem;
  • obsessive compulsive disorder;
  • panic disorder;
  • phobias;
  • redundancy;
  • self-harm;
  • separation and divorce;
  • smoking;
  • stress;
  • terminal illness;
  • work-related stress.

Sessions are held in pleasant rooms in Bournemouth and Wimborne.  They are relaxed and non-judgemental and you can be assured of a caring and confidential environment.
