Hello, I am Lynn Mitcham and I use hypnotherapy, counselling and mindfulness to help people free themselves from unwanted habits, behaviours and feelings and achieve balance in their lives*.

Some years ago, I became interested in hypnotherapy and counselling, and the sheer power of the mind.  I studied with Chrysalis, the UK’s leading provider of Counselling, Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy training.  I set up Sylvan Therapies in 2014 and work with people across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.  I strongly believe that “what the mind can conceive, the mind can achieve”.

I specialise in weight control, using suggestion and visualisation as well as the Hypno-Gastric Band Programme, and a programme based on Mindful Eating and Nutrition.  I also see many people suffering from anxiety, stress and lack of confidence and self-esteem.  I also see people with issues such as IBS, depression, phobias (including the fear of flying), smoking, pain relief, public speaking and many other psychologically and emotionally-based issues. I use hypnotherapy and counselling skills, together with other techniques such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy and neurolinguistic programming.

Having recently completed training, I also work with children and young adults.  Children are often more open to hypnotherapy than adults, and hypnosis can be very effective with issues such as lack of confidence and self-esteem, bed-wetting and other toileting issues, anxiety including separation and exam anxiety, sleeping difficulties and bullying, habits and behaviours.

Sessions are held in pleasant rooms at Platinum Business Centre, 23 Hinton Road, Bournemouth BH1 2EF and at The Alchemy Health Centre, 154 Leigh Road, Wimborne BH201 2DB.  They are relaxed and non-judgemental and you can be assured of a caring and confidential environment.

I hold a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills, and a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.  I am a Certified Parts Therapy Facilitator (having studied with Roy Hunter from America), Hypno-Gastric Band Practitioner and I hold a Certificate in Mindfulness for Anxiety and Depression.

I am a member of The National Counselling Society and The National Hypnotherapy Society (both of which are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register scheme), the General Hypnotherapy Register, the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council and the Association of Weight Loss Hypnotherapists.   I am required to comply with the high ethical standards of these professional organisations, and also to undertake regular continuing professional development, to extend and improve my knowledge and practice.   I also undergo regular supervision sessions.
